NMAT Quick Revision Cheat Sheet
One-page high-impact formulas & tips — 30-minute pre-test brush-up
1. Quantitative Skills — Key Formulas
Percentage Change = (New − Old) ÷ Old × 100%
- Simple Interest: (P × R × T) ÷ 100
- Compound Interest: P × (1 + R/100)T − P
- Speed: Distance ÷ Time
- Work: Work Rate × Time
- Average speed (two-part): (2xy) ÷ (x + y)
- Permutations: nP r = n! ÷ (n − r)!
- Combinations: nC r = n! ÷ (r! × (n − r)!)
- Probability: favourable ÷ total
Tip: estimate first — exact calc rarely needed if you can eliminate options.
2. Logical Reasoning — Quick Patterns
- Syllogisms: Use small Venns — check conclusions with each set.
- Blood Relations: Break into generations & mark genders.
- Input-Output: Track each transformation step — write intermediate result.
- Coding-Decoding: Identify shift / position / substitution patterns.
- Arrangement / Puzzles: Fill definite positions first, use elimination.
Tip: in test, do easy standalone LR first, puzzles later if time allows.
3. Language Skills — High-Impact Tips
RC: Read questions first → scan passage → locate lines
- Cloze tests: Ensure grammar + meaning both fit.
- Para jumbles: Look for connectors (however, therefore, meanwhile).
- Vocab roots: bio = life, geo = earth, dict = speak, port = carry.
- Elimination: Drop obviously wrong options fast to improve odds.
Tip: For RC, choose the most supported (direct) answer, not the "clever" one.
4. Quick Drills (Do daily)
- 20 Quant speed Qs — 1 min each
- 2 RCs + 10 vocab/cloze Qs
- 2 LR sets or 1 puzzle + 10 standalone LR
- 1 DI set (tables/pie/line)
5. Exam-Day & Attempt Strategy
- No negative marking: attempt everything — educated guesses are fine.
- Time limits are sectional: you cannot move unused time between sections.
- If a Q >30s, mark & move on. Return only if time permits.
- Multiple attempts: use first attempt as a learning mock only if necessary.
